National and Regional Meetings of the Indigenous Peoples of Iximulew
The National and Regional Meetings of the Indigenous Peoples of Iximulew were carried out with the objective of compiling a series of demands and political proposals that reflect the Cosmo vision of the Mayan, Xinka and Garífuna peoples of the country. Five regional meetings were held in Cobán, Suchitepéquez, Mataquescuintla, Quetzaltenango, and Chimaltenango, as well as two national meetings (one for indigenous youths and the second for indigenous women). In these meetings, it was possible to agree on the importance of restoring the Buen Vivir or Utzilaj K'aslemal as a paradigm for public policies, besides recognizing the legal pluralism and the plurinational character of the country through State reforms.
