National Meeting of Digital Activists of Indigenous Languages
The National Meeting of Digital Activists of Indigenous Languages occurred within the framework of Kaqchikel Wikiwuj, a space for citizen participation that translates and generates Wikipedia content in Maya-Kaqchikel. This democratic innovation was created with the aim to reduce the digital divide in indigenous communities, and promote social inclusion through technology. The meeting was first developed through forums, training workshops and cultural events, and the second part of this initiative consisted in an edit-a-thon. During this second phase, citizens and digital activists generated articles, audios and videos for the online encyclopedia, Wikipedia.
