National Council for the Promotion of Science, Technology and Innovation

The National Council for the Promotion of Science, Technology, and Innovation is the body in charge of the formulation and implementation of plans regarding science and technology. It drafts and executes specific programs, projects, policies and annual operational plans. Among the activities carried out by the Council are the approval of strategies and policies on human development issues; the National Science, Technology and Innovation Plan with its specific programs, projects and policies; the Annual Operational Plan of the Honduran Institute of Science, Technology, and Innovation; and its annual budget. Furthermore, it is also in charge of the approval of the internal regulations for the proper functioning of the Institute and compliance with the Law for the Promotion and Development of Scientific, Technological and Innovation Development. It is composed of representatives of different Secretariats of State, public and private universities, the National Academy of Sciences, the productive sectors and scientific-technological services designated by the Honduran Council for Private Enterprise (COHEP), as well as two public or private representatives that carry out activities in science, technology, innovation, and its applications.
