National Network of Volunteers for Electoral Observation and Rapid Counting

The National Network of Volunteers for Electoral Observation and Rapid Counting is an initiative created by the consortium "Hagamos Democracia" (lit. Let?s Make Democracy), which is integrated by leaders and volunteers who perform social audits through electoral observation and rapid counting in 18 departments and 298 municipalities of the country, strengthening citizen participation and electoral transparency. By 2016, the consortium of Hagamos Democracia was singled out as the only independent coalition with experience in rapid counting and citizen electoral observation, as it had successfully counted a primary election and two general elections in the country. Around 1200 citizens participated in the three cases in which the network was put into operation. Hagamos Democracia acted as an electoral observer. Citizens were distributed based on a random sample in the 18 departments and 271 of the 298 municipalities of the country. Hagamos Democracia presented the data, the estimates of the results and conclusions on the day of the presidential election of November 24, 2013.
