National Consultation on the Strategy of Universal Health Coverage

The National Consultation on the Strategy of Universal Health Coverage was an event that allowed different sectors of the country to discuss and debate on health related issues. Its aim was to generate productive and representative exchanges on the conceptual framework, and on the challenges and proposals for achieving the goal of universal health coverage at the national and regional levels. A draft strategy was prepared by the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO), which served as background material for the national consultations conducted by the Member States. The National Consultation in Honduras was conducted by the Ministry of Health, the PAHO, and the World Health Organization (WHO), in conjunction with the Presidency of the Republic. It was attended by 76 representatives of the national health authorities, academia, public and private sectors, civil society organizations, the PAHO and the WHO. Parallel to the meeting of the National Consultation, the team used social networks through a virtual blog in which the general population was invited to participate in the consultation during July 14 to 25. Furthermore, the key discussions of the work tables were published in social media channels.
