Committee against Torture and Other Cruel, Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment
The Committee against Torture and Other Cruel, Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment was established by Law No. 3298 of the Buenos Aires City Legislature. Its purpose is to monitor, through periodic visits, public and private places of detention and internment in the city of Buenos Aires with regards to torture and other cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment, in order to prevent their occurrence. The Committee compiles and systematizes information on the situation of individuals deprived of their liberty, and designs and recommends actions and policies for the prevention of torture and other cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment.
