Mining Monitoring Committees
The mining monitory committees have been convened by mining firms (CEMEX and Minera Panamá) in the localities of Chilibre and Donoso after social protests. Their purpose is to allow civil society to supervise the environmental monitoring that is done by company?s technicians, as well to work as a channel through which civil society communicates its concerns to the firms and determines potential actions to mitigate environmental damage.
