Regional Health Councils
The Regional Health Councils are bodies that promote the participation of institutions, organizations and citizens in regional public health management. In order to decentralize the health service in Paraguay, Law No. 1032 of 1996 established the Councils, thereby delegating competences and resources to the regional level. In this way, the Boards have the capacity to develop and administer health programs according to the needs of different regions. Councils are made up of representatives of various organizations, and those not included can apply to the Council as long as they demonstrate a connection between their activities and the health sector.
