Techo Paraguay
The "Techo" initiative arrived in Paraguay in 2008 with the name "Un Techo para mi País", while expanding throughout the Latin American region. The main goal is to provide low-income families with low-cost self-made housing, and through this to foster community development in local precarious settlements, the promotion of social action and the denunciation of the social exclusion of vulnerable populations. The project is carried out in three phases: the first consists of the evaluation of the area; the second in the participatory planning of solutions to different problems (especially related to community infrastructure) that is carried out in conjunction with volunteers and citizens and is based on the results of the initial diagnosis; and the third phase in the implementation of said agenda. Within the framework of this methodology, in addition to building emergency housing, Techo Paraguay has also carried out a survey report on precarious settlements in the country.
