The Interinstitutional Technical Committee on Ethnicity Statistics is a collegiate body created within the scope of the National Institute of Statistics and Informatics (INEI), with the objective of including representatives of Universities and civil society organizations as an active part in the development of indicators and measures of ethnicity in censuses and statistics developed by this state institution. In this way, representatives of various spaces are grouped together with indigenous and Afro-descendant communities and associations, as well as researchers specialized in ethnicity, who together with designated officials of Statistics, Culture and the Ombudsman's Office develop various questionnaires and specific indicators for the general census to be conducted in 2017.
