Techo Peru
The "Techo" initiative arrived in Peru in 2005, while it expanded throughout Latin America. The main objective of this project is the development of precarious settlements in the country, the promotion of social action, and the denunciation of the social exclusion faced by vulnerable populations. The project is carried out in three phases: the first is the evaluation of selected territories; the second is the participatory planning of solutions to different problems (mainly related to community infrastructure), which is done with volunteers and the local community and is based on the results of the initial diagnosis; and the third phase is the implementation of these solutions. Within the framework of this methodology and until 2015, Techo Peru built 5,020 emergency homes and established permanent development programs in 21 communities of the country. In addition, this organization has also implemented training programs for community leaders.
