Council of Museums
The Council of Museums, created in 2013 by Law No. 19.037, is a body that advises the Ministry of Education and Culture (MEC) on the formulation of policies related to museums. The Council is coordinated by the National Directorate of Culture and the General Directorate of the Secretariat of the Ministry. Representatives of governmental bodies, departmental and private museums, one representative appointed by the University of the Republic, one representative appointed by private museums and one representative appointed by private education institutes participate in the Council.
