Youth Parliament of Minas Gerais
The Youth Parliament of Minas Gerais is a youth participation program carried out by the Legislative Assembly of the state of Minas Gerais. The objective is to contribute to citizenship training and civic education for high school students through their participation in different instances of debate and exchange with peers. Each year has a thematic focus on which young people are informed, debate, and reach joint conclusions that are sent to the Legislative Assembly for consideration through its Popular Participation Commission. The Young Parliament has been organized annually since 2004. Until 2010 it took place centrally in the capital, Belo Horizonte. Between 2010 and 2013, it was carried out in stages, first at the Municipal level and then with representatives sent to the State plenary. Starting in 2014, an intermediate stage of Regional Plenaries was added.
