National Council for the Promotion of Health ?Vida Chile?

The National Council for the Promotion of Health ?Vida Chile? is an authority of intersectorial coordination chaired by the Minister of Health and comprised of 28 public and private institutions throughout the country. Its role is to advise Ministries on the development of health policies and to coordinate a plan for intersectorial strategic action. The Council was created by the Ministry of Health within the framework of the National Plan for Health Promotion launched in 1998. Among its specific objectives, the Council seeks to collaborate with the participatory diagnosis of health issues and quality of life, and to participate in the formulation, implementation and evaluation of the Municipal Health Promotion Plan. The National Council has a network of local councils articulated under a motto idea called "Building a Healthier Country". The municipal "Vida Chile" councils have a participative character and are made up of representatives of social and community organizations, municipal authorities, local public services and private entities.
