Rural Mission for Colombia

The Rural Mission for Colombia was an exercise for discussion, reflection and research carried out between 1997 and 1998, which sought to reach viable agreements to achieve peace in Colombia. In this exercise there were participants from peasant, indigenous and business organizations, academics, public institutions, territorial entities, international organizations and other public opinion sectors, who generated proposals and guidelines on rurality based on peasant economy, sustainability, rural poverty, education, science and technology, coexistence, institutionality, gender and culture. The initiative generated a sectorial diagnosis and an agenda of long-term proposals, as well as specific definitions and guidelines on the concepts they proposed, the implementation times and even the proposal of a comprehensive agrarian reform.
