National Board of Education
The National Board of Education is a consultative body of the Ministry of National Education for the purposes of planning and designing the State educational policies. The Board works with scientific criteria in a coordinated manner with the Departmental, District and Municipal Boards of Education, in order to achieve the development of educational policies that integrate all territorial levels of the country. It was created in 1994 when the General Law on Education was issued and is composed of the Minister of Education, delegates from territorial entities, researchers in the educational field and a representative of the institutions dedicated to educational research, with the purpose of proposing policies, programs and projects that ensure the improvement of the quality, coverage and management of the educational service.
