Online Security
Online Security is a platform created in 2014 that works with geo-referencing by website or by smartphone app, whereby citizens can report to the authorities on cases of theft, extortion, drug trafficking, corruption, mobility problems, public space and coexistence. The aim is to facilitate a mechanism for reporting by citizens and to increase their reporting, bringing justice to the communities and creating a joint work effort between the citizens and the authorities to focus on intelligence gathering and to have more information about where the problems affecting citizens are. The platform was initially created in Medellín, Antioquia, then extended to 70 more municipalities of this region and since 2016 was also launched in Bogotá. Complainants receive a response from the authorities and other users can comment, reinforce, approve or delegitimize complaints made by others. The relevant cases are sent to the entities in charge such as the Mayor's Office, the Police Department or the Prosecutor's Office, who initiate an investigation and follow-up on the process. The vast majority of users have reported being satisfied with the work of Online Security.
