InfoAmazonia Colombia
InfoAmazonia Colombia is a data journalism initiative by the Brazil-based non profit organization InfoAmazonia. Started in 2012, the initiative reports about deforestation in the Colombian Amazon via satellite images, interactive maps and crowdsourcing. Its primary objective is to raise citizens' awareness about deforestation as well as increase accountability of public policies about the Colombian Amazon. The platform's open data satellite maps are based on information from the Institute of Hydrology, Meteorology and Environmental Studies of Colombia and the maps are coupled with geo-located stories generated by journalists. For its implementation in Colombia, InfoAmazonia partnered with Dejusticia, El Espectador and the Amazon Conservation Team.
