Popular Consultation on Mining in Cajamarca
In the Popular Consultation on Mining Exploitation in Cajamarca, the local government asked the following question to the citizens: Do you agree with the implementation of mining projects and activities in the municipality of Cajamarca? 6,165 people out of the 6,296 who voted, voted against it, which meant that the mining project of the company AngloGold Ashanti, for open-pit gold mining, was not carried out.
