Strategic plan for participatory cantonal development of the Municipality of Acerrí

The strategic plan for participatory cantonal development of the Municipality of Acerrí began in 2002, with the municipality's intention to develop a strategic plan for participatory cantonal development, which in turn is the product of a process of awareness and training on the scope and new legal obligations based on legal changes in 1998 in the Costa Rican municipal regime, promoted by the "Local Development Project" (PRODELO). As part of this participatory planning process, a "Development Plan Commission", composed of 15 members, most of them professionals in different areas people who had a well-known political affiliation, but were not actively involved in partisan and electoral processes. Through workshops, diagnostics and participatory forums, a Cantonal Development Plan is written, which initiates formal channels for its approval.
