Female Hackathon

The Female Hackathon is an initiative of the Cooperative Sulá Batsú, developed with support from several institutions. This hackathon had 5 editions between 2014 and 2018. The first two editions were focused on the participation of women from Costa Rica, and from 2017 the scope of the initiative was extended to make it a "Central American Female Hackathon". Women of different ages who are interested in technologies in all areas of knowledge participate in the hackathon. The purpose is to develop solutions that contribute to sustainable community development in diverse areas (e.g. public transportation, citizen security, waste management, satellite technologies, etc.). Furthermore, the hackathon seeks to strengthen networks of women in science and technology, and to highlight the contributions that they can make to the society.
