Community Safety Program Committees
The Community Safety Program was created in 1996 and its purpose is to organize and train citizens to take preventive measures against crime, as well as to give them better tools to act against it. The program also aims to strengthen the relationship between citizens and police forces. Citizens organize themselves into community security committees, and the program has succeeded in consolidating more than 2,000 committees throughout the country.
