Forum for Citizen Participation
The Forum for Citizen Participation is a platform from the Dominican Government that contains three categories: suggestion box, discussions on public services and discussions on current national issues. In the suggestion box, citizens can make suggestions to the Dominican government on any topic. In the category discussions on public services, citizens can post suggestions and observations related to public services. Finally, in the category discussions on current issues, it is possible to initiate debates on topics of interest, such as sustainable development, environmental protection and improvements in local communities. Citizens can view and comment on existing discussions, and/or add new ones.
Institutional design
Formalization: is the innovation embedded in the constitution or legislation, in an administrative act, or not formalized at all?
Frequency: how often does the innovation take place: only once, sporadically, or is it permanent or regular?
Mode of Selection of Participants: is the innovation open to all participants, access is restricted to some kind of condition, or both methods apply?
Type of participants: those who participate are individual citizens, civil society organizations, private stakeholders or a combination of those?
Decisiveness: does the innovation takes binding, non-binding or no decision at all?
Co-governance: is there involvement of the government in the process or not?
