National Citizen's Council of the Environmental Sector

The National Citizen's Council of the Environmental Sector is a collegial body made up of state and social representatives for the purpose of dialogue, deliberation and the evaluation of public policies on environmental matters. It is promoted by the Executive Branch through the Ministry responsible, and meets at least twice a year. It has representatives of the National Assembly of Good Living, the highest level of representation for society in terms of planning for the Ecuadorian State. This Council refers to non-binding decisions. In its first official workshop, the Council carried out the construction of an Agenda, the structuring of citizen proposals for Public Policies for the Environmental Sector and the definition of a road map. These conclusions were defined after the establishment of working groups focused on issues such as Environmental Quality, Climate Change, Natural Heritage and Marine Coasts. These teams had their respective coordinators for the formulation of sectorial policies, in which representatives from the various provinces of the country participated.
