Permanent Provincial Commissions for Equality and Gender
The Permanent Provincial Commissions for Equality and Gender are comprised of representatives of the State as well as civil society and have the purpose of guaranteeing gender equality in the implementation and development of public policies at the provincial level within Ecuador. These Commissions are part of the institutional structure of the National Council for Gender Equality. They make decisions and carry out deliberations about public policy in their fields of intervention; however, their decisions are non-binding. Its main function is to transversally incorporate the gender equality approach into the development and territorial planning, programs, projects and in general in all the norms, acts and resolutions of the province.
