Commission for the Civic Control of Corruption

The Commission for the Civic Control of Corruption is a constitutionally established body that seeks to include society in actions to control and combat corruption in Ecuador. The Commission is made up of seven members, who when assembled together constitute the highest authority of the Institution. Each Commissioner is elected by an electoral college representing a sector of citizenship. This Commission is established in Law 39 of 1999. It is a deliberative space and has the function of carrying out the necessary actions for the prevention, investigation, identification and individualization of acts of corruption, as well as for the dissemination of values ??and principles of transparency in the management of public affairs. In this context, the Commission should formulate programs and conduct campaigns against corruption, as well as design a national prevention plan that will be brought to the attention of the highest authorities in the functions of the State. This Commission created and implemented "citizen oversight" along with other policies to combat corruption.
