The Popular Consultation "Territory Free of Mining" in San Isidro Labrador was organized by the community and supported by various social organizations. A petition prompted, signed by 40% of the inhabitants, the consultation. 238 of 375 eligible voters participated; with 235 votes against, two in favor and one voided vote, the population of San Isidro Labrador in Chalatenango rejected the exploration of mining projects in the municipality.
