Social Audit Program for the Construction of a Local Road in San Antonio del Monte

The Social Audit Program for the construction of local road in San Antonio del Monte was implemented to evaluate the project and ensure that the road was built with higher quality standards. The main actors involved were the mayor, the head of the Institutional Processes and Contracts Unit, the Local Development Committee, a social audit committee and direct and indirect beneficiaries of some 1,500 low-income families. The main tasks and objectives of the Social Audit Program were to monitor and follow up on public management in order to prevent inappropriate acts that negatively affected the project. It consisted of monitoring the bidding, contracting and implementation during the course of the project to ensure compliance with legal and ethical standards.
