Bambito Encounters
The Bambito Encounters were part of a concertation experience that took place before the electoral process of 1994. They were organized to help consolidate trust in the development of the democratic process, and to establish a state agenda around social development issues. Thus, before the elections were held, the Bambito Encounters I and II took place; and later the Bambito Encounter III. The first meeting was attended by representatives of all legally constituted political parties, of the government, of private stakeholdes and workers, as well as the Catholic Church, Universities, and the former presidents Belisario Betancur of Colombia and Julio Sanguinetti of Uruguay as special guests. In Bambito III, there was strong representation from civil society, thanks to the presence of, among others, the Women and Development Forum, APEMEP (Association of Small and Medium Producers) and CONAPIP (National Coordinator of Indigenous Peoples).
