Municipal Councils of Transport
The Municipal Councils of Transport are autonomous bodies that should assist the public sector by ensuring access to information and citizen participation in planning, operating and supervising the Public Transport System. These councils generally: cooperate with the municipality in studying and finding solutions for problems concerning urban passenger transport, and proposing measures for its improvement; propose guidelines for the creation, modification and termination of lines and itineraries; propose guidelines for the modification of timetables and the quantity of trips; propose measures to improve the quality of services provided by operators and their agents; express opinions and propose changes on the methodology for the calculation of fees and monitor its implementation; suggest amendments to the Regulations of Urban Transport Services; identify irregularities and complaints from users of the system, and transmit the report to the corresponding authorities; and propose adjustments to fees, therefore ensuring that they are compatible with the users? purchasing power, so as to not penalize them.
