?Glass of Milk? Committees
The ?Glass of Milk? Committees is a nutrition program started in 1985, aimed at mothers of infants up to 6 years of age, and pregnant and lactating women with few resources, to provide them with daily portions of milk and staple foods; and in which context there are also numerous workshops to strengthen the community organization of women and mothers, to contribute to health and food education as well as to social support and solidarity. Although the program originates at the national level through the Ministry of Health, it is implemented at the municipal level, and evaluated by mixed committees composed of representatives of the State and organizations of mothers and women. These committees have broad powers to select providers, coordinate distribution, and evaluate the execution of the program in each community.
