Citizen Window

Ventana Ciudadana (lit. Citizen Window) is an initiative developed by the Metropolitan Commission for the Fight against Corruption, QuitoHonesto and CARE Ecuador, and implemented by the Foundation for the Advancement of Reforms and Opportunities - FARO Group. Ventana Ciudadana is a simple instrument that seeks to inform, describe and understand municipal finances by building simple indicators that are disseminated among the citizens of said municipality, in order to achieve an active participation by society in the management of that local government. The project materialized as a Training Manual for Citizens and made the municipalities of Quito and Joya de los Sachas aware of their actions and the concept that citizens can participate in municipal management in an informed manner. At the same time, it strengthened the capacity of citizens to understand and interpret complex fiscal information to participate in municipal decisions.
